Good food, a couple of good drinks and people around me who I love and who respond in kind.
As of 02.01, it is already time to start implementing the plans, sloppily set for myself on 31.12.
For many, it is important to start the new year with a plan.
And there are many resources for this right now. After all, letting the next twelve months catch up with you now is considered almost unforgivable frivolity.
In addition to the usual calendars, there are now various so-called journals that not only list the days, but also provide personal coaching with lots of questions and texts.
There are online courses that I can take to properly keep a diary or journal, as well as courses where I learn how to visualise my vision and capture it artistically on a sheet of paper. The whole thing is then called a visualisation board.
The approach behind all this is clear: leave nothing to chance.
Be more focused. Don’t just live your day, but think about what your life should look like.
The following message is on everyone’s lips: you can achieve anything if you just want to!
It’s a great motto and I think a healthy dose of optimism won’t hurt our society.
Hardly in any other country do people do as well as they do here, and yet they’re so dissatisfied with everything. However, I wonder what better describes the quality of a country than the happy fact that the paediatrician arrives at 1am because you called the emergency number an hour before?
If you’re in a crisis and you don’t know what to do, it’s certainly hard to understand that, despite everything, you’re doing better than many people in other parts of the world.
Because your current state will not improve from this.
Then, when you read all these optimistic messages, I can well imagine that instead of enlightenment, you “boil over”.
However, there is a human tendency called ‘victim behaviour’.
It’s much easier to wallow in your own unhappiness than to sit down and start taking charge of your life and forging your own path.
One of my guiding principles: “Just do it!”
It sounds so simple, and yes, it can be that simple too.
Know that it is up to each of us to make us feel the way we do.
You can get stuck in complaining and regretting.
However, you may also wonder what options you have to get out of this quagmire.
“Who or what can help me now?”
“Who or what do I need to make me feel better?”
When you ask the questions, a space suddenly opens up in your mind. A room of possibilities.
Suddenly the phrase “Anything is possible!” seems much more tangible and realistic.
It’s crucial that you perceive yourself as the creator of your life. Because only you can decide whether to ask yourself these questions and make changes, or get stuck and be satisfied with your dissatisfaction.
Do you find this suggestion provocative?
This is the way it should be!
Of course, there are situations that are harder to get out of.
This happens whenever events paralyse us and we feel helpless in the face of such magnitude.
“Something has happened to me through no fault of my own, and how can a diary help me now?
Will it make me healthy again? Will it help me find a job again? Will it bring back my dead loved ones? “
The clear answer is, “Yes and no!”
Of course, you can’t use it to raise the dead.
But you will achieve incredible results if you start paying more attention to what is happening to you. When you start reflecting, scrutinising your thoughts and asking yourself questions about the solution.
Because then you won’t get stuck and wallow in your grief, pain and anxiety.
There are always answers to all the questions!
Not always right away, but definitely at some point!
As soon as you start writing down thoughts, ideas, questions, etc., they take shape. Everything becomes more tangible and very slowly you will notice that something changes.
Your thoughts, your attention, your concentration, your well-being.
By keeping a diary, you can affect everything positively.
And here we are again at the beginning of this article. At the beginning of a new year.
The usual solutions: more fitness, more health, more reading, less TV, more fresh air and sunshine and less couch.
These are all important elements if you want to lead a ‘better’ life as the year begins.
But are all of these really YOUR wishes?
What is behind the desire to exercise more?
What is the need and what values are behind it?
What areas of life are your priorities and at what stage are you in each area?
You have to ask yourself these questions beforehand, so that you don’t pursue someone else’s goals.
Otherwise, good intentions will fade as soon as you finish your glass of sparkling wine on New Year’s Eve.
Speaking of goals: what’s your goal for the new year?
Is it really one of the goals mentioned above, such as fitness, health, etc., or do you have an entirely different goal?
Before we start optimising our actions, getting in order and changing our lives, we need a goal (why) so we know where we are going.
If you want to use the beginning of the year to change your life, I offer you my support.
Find out what is important to you and take this Values Test. Use the Wheel of Life to check which areas of life are most important to you and where you are now.
You can then use my recommendations to set one or more goals and plan in writing to implement them.
If you need help with this process, I cordially invite you to a free introductory meeting without any obligation.
