    I am breastfeeding mom! How should I feed myself?

    Congratulations and a lot of strength for the coming special time! J So that you can get through the shorter nights or stressful meals, here are some tips on what you should pay special attention to when breastfeeding, so that you and your child are well cared for.

    1. Eat and drink enough! Since you automatically use up to 600 kcal more energy per day by breastfeeding, you should also feed this back to you.
    2. If you have an iodine deficiency, this can have an effect in the form of a delay in child language development, fine motor skills and behavioral disorders. Choose enough iodine-containing foods such as iodized table salt, algae, Brazil nuts or wholemeal bread.
    3. Vitamin B12 and folic acid are a must. You can find them in meat, dairy products, rye bread, soy, Brussels sprouts, spinach, beans, etc. Choose fresh products.
    4. Vitamin D3 trägt zur Sprachentwicklung des Kindes bei. Somit solltest du bereits während der Schwangerschaft auf einen guten Vitamin D3-Haushalt achten.
    5. Iron deficiency is a common problem in women. Have your iron levels checked regularly, whether during, after or without pregnancy. If you have a major deficiency, limitations in the child’s cognitive and motor skills can occur.

    By the way: Exercise while breastfeeding is no problem! However, if you have done a high-intensity workout, you should wait another 60 minutes before breastfeeding, otherwise the lactate level in the blood may not have dropped again. At moderate or light intensities, there is no effect on breast milk.
